OVERVIEW

The M-DRIVE is a cost effective integrated controller plus DC drive.  The built-in SCR drive can handle up to 2 HP Permanent Magnet DC motors and has an adjustable current limit of 4 to 16 Amps.  The digital controller provides closed-loop speed regulation for applications that require the highest level of precision.   With zero cumulative error, the M-DRIVE can accommodate demanding electronic gearing applications often found in web handling, and extrusion processes.

M-Cut​

Control indexing and cut-to-length applications

OVERVIEW

The M-CUT is an intelligent universal controller designed for highly accurate, high speed control of incremental feeding applications.  It can handle both direct point-to-point, and registration reference operations.  The point-to-point cut-to-length operation consists of moving from a predefined "home", through the S-curve velocity profiles directly to the destination point.  The registration reference point is different in that the final destination point is determined by the occurrence of a registration mark, which is typical of web applications with variances from web "stretch".

M-Shuttle​

Control synchronization of flying-cut applications

OVERVIEW

The M-SHUTTLE is a highly intelligent universal controller designed for reciprocating/follower applications.  These target applications are characterized by a constant motion requirement, such as extruded products, webs or ovens that cannot be halted to be processed (cut, stamped, threaded, etc.).  The M-SHUTTLE will move the process device (saw, grinder, etc.) at the same speed as the product in order to perform the process function at the proper length.  After the process function has been performed, the M-SHUTTLE moves the process device back to the original position and the motion profile is repeated.

The M-TRAVERSE is a highly intelligent universal controller designed for control of reciprocating "back-and-forth" applications.  It is the perfect solution for level wind guides in the wire, cable, and extruded tubing industries; cross-lapping fiber and fabric webs; scanning for web inspection or chemical applications; fiber wound tanks and cylinders.  By following the main line speed, the M-TRAVERSE accurately positions the traverse motor by working through a servo or vector drive.

Ring Kit Encoders​

Designed for installation on NEMA 56C through 254TC C-Faced Motors

OVERVIEW

These Ring Kits are designed specifically to house CONTREX sensors for easy, drop-in installation. Each full kit includes flange ring, sensor, 60-tooth gear, junction box, wire nuts, and mounting bolts. Available with 2X Hall Effect, Quadrature, and Magnetic Pickup speed sensors.

FEATURES
  • Eliminates the need for special brackets and couplers found on typical encoders

  • Unique design of sensor insert creates a fixed sensor gap, providing more accurate readings

  • Square-cut design of gear teeth provide a greater measure of accuracy than rounded spur gears

  • Extended temperature range, -40oC to 125oC, can handle severe industrial environments

Industry Standard Optical Encoders for Sensing Speed and Direction

OVERVIEW

The Optical Encoders from CONTREX come in an industry standard cube style package that make it easy for direct replacement of other brand encoders.  Available in 600 pulses-per-revolution (PPR) and 1200 PPR, these encoders provide a single pulse-train for sensing motor speed, or quadrature pulse-trains for sensing speed and direction.

Speed Sensors

Sense Motor Shaft Speed and Direction for Closed-Loop Motion Control

OVERVIEW 

CONTREX speed sensors can be used to sense the speed or speed and direction of a rotating motor shaft for closed-loop motion control applications.  Sensors are available in several different models including 2X Hall Effect, Quadrature, and Magnetic Pickup.  Though capable of working in nearly any installation, our speed sensors are specifically designed for easy drop-in installation with CONTREX Ring Kits

CONTREX Magnetic Pickup sensors offer cost effective, proven reliability for many motor speed control applications.  With no integrated circuitry, these variable-reluctance sensor can withstand very high temperature environments.  They are available in multiple housing types depending on your application needs.

QUADRATURE ENCODER​

 

For positioning or bi-directional applications, the advanced Quadrature Sensor II gives you both motor shaft speed and direction.  The Quadrature Sensor II provides two pulse-trains which are 90 degrees out of phase from each other.  This phase difference provides direction information to a CONTREX controller.  The Quadrature Sensor II technology is more rugged, reliable, and easier to mount than typical optical encoders.

2X HALL EFFECT

For near zero speed applications, the 2X Hall Effect Sensor improves your ability to sense motor shaft speed at very low speeds.  Unlike a magnetic pickup, the 2X Hall Effect Sensor is capable of sensing true zero speed while being tolerant of wider gaps.  Additionally, the 2X Hall Effect Sensor improves the sensing resolution by 2 times, thus producing a 120 pulse-per-revolution signal when sensing a 60 tooth gear.  This additional resolution improves motor speed control a low speeds.
