Data Recorders

The Hasler® TELOC® system covers the entire speed chain – from data acquisition by different sensors, to the actual data recorder, acquisition of third party systems, signal transmission, data evaluation and speed indication. For different system parts, SIL certifications up to levels 2 and 4 can be obtained.

TELOC®3000

TELOC®3000 is part of a brand new smart-tech equipment generation that satisfies the most demanding requirements. Due to the open architecture of the system, new functions can be integrated at hardware and software level. The housing can be customised to customer’s requirements and is based on a 19 inch technology.

The TELOC®3000 generation has been developed for use on all railway vehicles such as electric and diesel locomotives, high speed trains, electric and diesel multiple units and mountain railways. It is also suitable for mass transit, i.e. on light rail vehicles, trams and metro trains.

TELOC®3000 records speed, distance and time together with various customer specified signals from motor current, voltage, brake pressure, whistle, moving direction, brake activation, etc. Signals can be hardwired to TELOC®3000 and/or TELOC®3000 can communicate over various bus systems, such as MVB, CANopen, Profibus, Ethernet, RS485/422, etc. Communication with multiple bus systems in parallel is possible, e.g. Profibus, MVB and Ethernet. The connection to the various Hasler® CPM is as well possible.

TELOC®2500

Following the tradition of the well-known Hasler® TELOC®2000 and 2200 data recorders, the TELOC®2500 has been designed to fit in the standard 19”-racks mounted in all of today’s engine rooms.

The TELOC®2500 is conceptually identical to the TELOC®1500, the only major difference is in the board arrangement - whereas the simple Europe format boards are mounted vertically in the TELOC®1500, the boards are mounted horizontally in the TELOC®2500, whose main board is in double Europe format.

The TELOC®2500 also features the modular concept, although due to its standard 19” housing, the modularity is purely functional. However, this is not at all a drawback: since the housing will allow the fitting of the maximum number of boards or other equipment such as Hasler® Crash Protected Memories will maximise functionality from the very beginning without urging you to change the housing if you want to enhance your system’s functionalities.

Just as the TELOC®1500, the TELOC®2500 is capable of combined ETCS / conventional rail data acquisition and processing.

TELOC®1500

Suitable for all railway applications such as main-line locos, high speed trains, suburban units, metro cars and mountain railways, the HaslerRail TELOC®1500 is the most flexible of all HaslerRail data recorders.

Its modular concept and the possibility to add further boards or other equipment such as Hasler® Crash Protected Memories will maximise functionality.

But the TELOC®1500’s great advantage over the TELOC®2500 is the new housing concept - its new aluminium body is available in four different sizes:

  • half-rack (four board slots)
  • Seven board slots
  • Seven board slots plus Hasler® CPM
  • full-rack (15 slots)

Just as the TELOC®2500, the TELOC®1500 is capable of combined ETCS / conventional rail data acquisition and processing.

TELOC®1200

The TELOC®1200 will mostly be used for applications in refurbishment projects of existing Hasler® RT or MEMOTEL-units as well as in new LRV or urban mass-transit vehicles.

Thanks to its compact sizes, it will easily find its place in today’s fully-laden engine rooms or driver’s cabins.

There is one major difference between the TELOC®1200 and the other units: unlike the TELOC®1500 or 2500 which can both be individually customised, the TELOC®1200 is a standard device when it comes to hardware, e.g. it can only be adapted to customer needs using the software configuration.

Nevertheless, the unit fulfils all desirable basic operations and can be linked to the vehicle logics using a bus-system such as MVB, CANOpen or any other RS485 link.

Hasler® CPM

In case of an accident it can be very helpful to have a tool at one's disposal which will contain the relevant trip data.

Therefore, HaslerRail has developed the Crash Protected Memory - the airliners’ black box made suitable for railway applications.

This product has been designed to protect data in the case of a serious accident. It will sustain shock, crush, fire and fluid immersion.

The Hasler® CPMs are capable of recording data originating from the TELOC®3000 central units such as traditional trip data, ETCS data, etc. or from third party systems such as CCTV recordings or voice data and so on.

ETCS

HaslerRail provides a complete range of sensor products to be used for Odometry Unit (ODU).

The new Hasler® CORRail 1000 contactless optical slip- and slide-free sensor, capable to measure speeds from 0.2 to 500 km/h and insensitive to dust, snow or other external influences. Signals can be delivered either via RS485 or as pulse signals. It can replace the well-known Doppler-Radar Systems.

The Hasler® Optical Pulse Generator and Hasler® Hall-Effect Sensors are already widely used and long-time proven in service for ETCS and National applications.

HaslerRail data recorder types TELOC®1500, TELOC®2500 and TELOC®3000 are all capable of any recording combination: ETCS only, National Rail only or combined ETCS and National Rail solutions. In ETCS or combined operation, the TELOC®uses the standardised interface according to the ERMTS/ETCS standard SUBSET-027 for data download.

To create added value to the downloaded data, HaslerRail has refined its TELOC®EVA and TELOC®EVA ETCS evaluation and analysis

Safety

According to current EU legislation, new or modified devices with safety relevant function(s) have to be designed according to the EN 50126 standard in order to receive a defined Safety Integrity Level (SIL) approval.

Due to the fact that all safety-relevant information is already available - it appears sensible to use this information to carry out safety-related functions such as roll protection, deadman functions, Driver Safety Devices (SIFA), etc.

To assist customers in designing of new applications and modernisation projects as well as to simplify the certification of an entire system, HaslerRail has developed the Hasler® SABOA Safety Board which has been developed according to the most stringent CENELEC standards.

Using SABOA, we are able to achieve SIL approval up to SIL4 for the following functions:

  • Roll Protection: SIL4
  • Rollback Protection: SIL4
  • Driver Safety Device: SIL4
  • Speed Thresholds: SIL4
  • Zero Speed Detection: SIL2
  • Speed Indicator Check: SIL2
  • Safe Speed Transmission: SIL2
  • Emergency Brake Bypass: SIL2
  • Emergency Brake Supervision: SIL4

Speed Acquisition

Being at the speed chain’s beginning, the acquisition devices are of major importance, HaslerRail has several high-quality, heavy-duty devices.

Speed Indication

Still today, the only really crucial information for a train driver is the speed of his vehicle.

Speed indicator units for trains and other rail-guided vehicles have to be designed and built to the highest standards to ensure flawless performance even in extreme ambient conditions.

Therefore, HaslerRail offers a wide array of different speed indicators:

Data Transfer

Speed matters – not only for passengers, but also for operators.

In the olden days, it may have been sufficient to deliver operational and trip data to the control office after the shift. However, in today’s world short signal headways on modern lines, it is indispensable to transmit certain data virtually immediately. If, for instance, a vehicle suffers damage this is not only annoying for the passenger who misses his connecting train but also for the operator who has to alter his operations due to a blocked line.

Nevertheless, the quick transmission of operational or fault data is not only interesting for high-speed line operators – conventional railway companies may as well benefit: be it in planning maintenance operations or in personnel planning.

Being linked to both the vehicle control electronics and the on-board information network with the passenger information system, the TELOC® is optimally suited to coordinate and integrate such data transfers – to serve the operator and on behalf of the customer’s interest!
