Tip-sensitive, spring-loaded RTD temperature assemblies provide fast and accurate readings of bearings, blocks, frames and low pressure fluids. Minco’s spring loaded holder ensures solid contact in drilled holes and has a built-in oil seal. The sensing probe features a copper alloy tip for quick response to temperature changes. These assemblies are also the industry choice for insertion into pre-installed thermowells in process applications.

SmartHeat SLT Thin-Film Heaters

Minco’s SmartHeat SLT (Self-Limiting Technology) line of heaters offers an efficient alternative to traditional heaters and temperature control devices, providing consistent thermal outcomes and self-tuning in dynamic environments. Utilizing a patented polymer compound, SmartHeat SLT heaters pinpoint exactly when and where heat is required for thermal uniformity without the need for external control.

Minco’s SmartHeat SLT heaters strive to maintain a constant temperature. They will produce high power when attached to a cold object and will rapidly heat that object within a prescribed control temperature range. The exact control temperature is determined by the heater design and thermal loading, including factors such as heatsink type, contact method, and environment temperature.

SmartHeat SLT heaters may be used over a wide range of voltages, enabling setup flexibility and ensuring system protection from power supply variation. The desired set point is maintained without the need for controlling electronics. In addition to providing consistent set point control for an object, each SmartHeat SLT heater is protected by a designed safety temperature. This self-limiting behavior acts at every point along the surface of the heater, eliminating the risk of overheating in the event of delamination, poor contact, or environmental variations.

Listed control temperatures and safety temperatures are valid for applications with low thermal loading, at the prescribed nominal voltage setting. Applications with high thermal loading or unique environments should be verified experimentally. Loop-powered indicators are the epitome of efficiency -- using a 4-20mA signal to define the displayed process variable and power the internal electronics -- no separate power lines are required. Minco's loop-powered indicators are field adjustable via course adjust DIP switches and fine adjust trimmer pots.

  • Washdown indicators have a compatible digital readout for local indication of temperature. This design provides high accuracy and reliability in a compact 2.5” x 4.5” NEMA 4X Polycarbonate case. The 4 to 20 milliamp DC signal is displayed in the corresponding temperature in °C or °F.
     
  • Explosionproof indicators are safely enclosed in an epoxy-coated aluminum housing rated to IP66/NEMA 4x. The enclosure is sealed from harsh environments to enhance product reliability and longevity.

By utilizing an internal solid state relay, logic voltage output, and internal mechanical relay, the controller is fully configurable. Simply connect the CT425 to a laptop or PC to configure.

Process Monitors/Alarms

Monitoring the temperature of critical products, processes, or equipment can ensure the highest quality, optimize your output, and provide safe operation. Process monitoring is critical in every industry, ranging from cold storage monitoring of laboratory materials to over-temperature protection on bearings in rotating equipment.

 

Data Acquisition

Acquiring temperature measurement data can provide valuable process trend information for analysis and optimization or recall the data for validation a process completed correctly.  Minco specializes in optimizing data acquisition features for high speed sampling rates in excess of 1,000 per second and signal filtering to evaluate and remove noise that may skew measurement results. Data acquisition modules may also be scaled and customized for unique application needs, such as multi-channel configuration. Minco has developed custom data acquisition units that accept 32 high speed inputs and configured for series integration of modules that can scale for as many inputs as the application may require.

Data acquisition functionality can be integrated into custom control and sensing solutions. Minco provides software to allow users to update system settings and view data. We also work with our customers engineering team to design products that may interface and communicate directly with their existing control system.

 

Material Storage

Ideal for ultralow freezers, laboratories, blood banks, walk-in freezers, even incubators – anywhere accurate sensing of the contents instead of the air is a vital concern.  Sealing the temperature sensor in a Polyethylene Thermal VialTM eliminates spillage and contamination.  The container can be filled with any fluid such as Ethylene glycol, alcohol, water, or cryopreservative to accurately emulate the material being stored or processed.

 

Alarms

Alarms: Minco Alarms are designed to monitor and protect electric machinery such as motors, generators, transformers, pumps and other equipment. Trust these microprocessor-based designs to maintain accuracy over a wide range of temperatures and to conduct regular self-checks to ensure correct operation.

  • 12-Channel Monitor is completely programmable to safeguard and data log motors and expensive machinery.

  • 3-Channel Monitor is completely programmable for dry-type transformers, pumps and compressors.

 

 

Transmitters

RTD and Thermocouple Temptran™ Transmitters are capable of providing accurate signals over thousands of feet. This is accomplished by amplifying low-level signals from RTDs or thermocouples to industry standard 4-20mA output, voltage, or HART® protocol.

 

Miniature

Fixed range models feature UL and FM approvals, capable of superior performance in a small, economical package.

 

Programmable Round

Programmable transmitters can be configured with Minco's AC205817 programmer, a PC, and Minco's user-friendly Windows-based interface. Program them on a benchtop, or remotely from the control room. These round transmitters are big enough to send an uncompromised signal for thousands of feet, yet small enough to fit in a standard DIN Form B head.  Communication is 2-way, so set-up and serial/tag numbers can be received from the transmitter.  The round transmitters are ideal for mounting at the field location in a standard DIN form B head.

 

DIN Rail Mount

Standard design can be mounted horizontally or vertically on a standard 35mm DIN rail inside a local box.  Devices are PC programmable to accept a signal from a thermocouple, a resistance temperature detector (RTD), or a millivolt signal.

 

Custom Signal Conditioning

Transmitters can be developed for special packaging requirements or integrated directly into a sensing device for an easier-to-install temperature sensing solution.  When looking at total system accuracy, integrating the sensor and transmitter together enables matched calibration, to effectively eliminate the sensor tolerance from the system accuracy specification.

High Accuracy: RTDs have an inherent calibration error, as do transmitters. Often, the combined error exceeds the required system accuracy. Minco's match calibrated sensor/transmitter sets effectively eliminate the RTD error by calibrating the transmitter to the actual RTD output. This technique can attain system (sensor/transmitter) accuracies to 0.2% of transmitter temperature span.
 

Certifications

Choose from several models integrated into a certified Minco temperature sensor assembly for use in hazardous areas, or select a model with component approval as part of an intrinsically safe circuit. Various models may have agency approvals from ATEX, IECEx, FM, CSA, UL, and more.

HART® Communication

The HART® communication available on Minco models TT511, TT521, and TT531, augments a standard 4-20mA signal with digital communication. The digital signal component provides more than just temperature – including tag number, temperature range, short-circuited sensor, open-circuited sensor, and more. In multidrop mode, up to 63 transmitters can be connected in a 2-wire "chain" (parallel connection). Since HART® is 2-way communication, the devices can be read and programmed over the same 2 wires, with a single controller.

Averaging: Rigid or bendable averaging sensors sense the temperature of air streams in ducts and plenums. These sensors have a continuous element to sense true average temperature along their entire length. They provide accurate composite readings in locations where air may be stratified into hot and cold layers.

  • Rigid averaging sensors have a brass case, with a variety of sensing element options.
  • Bendable averaging sensors are available in aluminum or copper sheaths, formable to a radius of 4”.
  • Chill-OutTM: Two sensors in one easily installed package, features a solid state low temperature cut-out (“Freeze Stat”) and an averaging resistance temperature sensor. The solid state design and rugged 3/8” diameter tubing eliminates concern of gas leaks or kinking the capillary during installation. Transmitters, relays, and control circuitry are self-contained in a rugged junction box for easy mounting, with a gasket to prevent leakage and vibration noise.
