Resistance Starters

Resistance starters are switched for starting three-phase asynchronous machines with wound rotors in the motor's rotor circuit. The drive train is accelerated by reducing the starter resistance depending on the motor slip.

The variety of resistor configurations allows for a broad range of applications for the various starter types.

Soft Starters

These medium-voltage soft starters with power electronics have been developed for continuous starting and stopping of three-phase asynchronous motors with squirrel-cage rotors.

The thyristors change the phase angle and start the motor at a reduced voltage. This limits the starting current. The power electronics provide optimum adaptation to the prevailing network conditions and offer optimum protection for the whole drive train.

Variable-Speed Drive

Special regulating switching devices are used for these drives. A modern PLC control is used to dynamically adjust the resistance to operating conditions and to set the required speed.

Power resistors are used wherever limiting or setting currents, voltages and speeds. The available resistor elements are built into the suitable housing and packages as per their type of protection in accordance with the operating conditions.

  Tap Changers

Tap changers are used for adjusting the voltage of transformers. In contrast to load tap changers, the setting of the winding tap must be made load-free.
