A barometer is a measuring instrument for the determination of the static absolute air pressure. Being used for meteorological purposes, the station barometer indicates the aerostatic air pressure at local altitude. In order to compare the measuring value with other air pressure values several corrections, such as altitude correction, are necessary.

Besides precise systems for the measurement of single meteorological values, combined measuring instruments with respective practical display, and evaluation are the need of the time. THIES weather stations, and dataloggers combine the measuring value sensors via an individually adapted software with the modern monitoring- and control systems on land, on sea and in the air, with cold and heat.

For data preprocessing and –recording there are several datalogger included in the THIES delivery program. They acquire and save the measuring values of the connected sensors. Extended functions, such as broken-wire detection, are adapted especially to THIES products. Thus, each sensor can be tested for correct function during measuring value acquisition. An integrated display for parametrization and for displaying the instantaneous values complete the function.
